SPELLSCRAM is a one-page card game ruleset where players pretend to be ancient word-wizards and duel with spells spontaneously constructed from the cards in their hands. The game supports a wide range of chaos (from "a little" to "what even is happening") depending on the mode you choose and the deck you use.

(This game was inspired by the results of playing JUST Good Cookin' by Beth And Angel Make Games and rolling the following: HISTORICAL, PUZZLE or WORD GAME, FIRST TO # POINTS, SOLO OPTION. While "ancient word-wizards" was my only nod to the historical aspect, I managed to incorporate the rest!)

SPELLSCRAM is hackable with credit under the Anti-Capitalist Attribution Cooperative License, so feel free to mess with it however you want! I'd love to see what you do with it. :D

This is RAD!

What is the license for this for implementing or deriving mechanics into other games?

Thank you! And: Oh heck, I had not even thought about that! I'll put it under the Anti-Capitalist Attribution Cooperative License and update the game description as such.

Now I want to make a game that uses cards instead of dice, has that spell system, and uses the Lenormand deck.

Heck yes!!! If you do, please drop the link here when it's done, I'd love to play it!

This is a unique game. I am going to force my brother to play it with me. I have a deck of tarot cards I bought after reading Improbable Magic For Cynical Witches.

Awesome! Let me know how the game goes! :D

Oh hey, this is epic!!! And I'm so delighted that my game inspired it, that's a heck of an honor! I really love what you've come up with here; I saw the title of this game and jumped on the Itch email announcing its release. Well done, Ty!
